The Glasgow Boys

I took a trip to the Royal Academy to look at 'The Glasgow Boys' exhibitions. The collection comprised of a group of scottish artists self-named 'The Glasgow Boys'. They represented a new art that hugely impacted Britain as well as abroad at the end of the nineteenth century.

One piece particularly grabbed me, George Henry's 'The Druids - Bringing in the Mistletoe'.

I did a little sketch because for some reason they didn't have a postcard..ludicrous.

Holly Paper

Me as paper..

For christmas..

santa gave me Luella's Guide to English Style.. what excited me about this present was the illustrations and photos that mapped out just how cool we English are. The illustrations were the work of Dan Laidler and Zoe Taylor.

Untitled, 1996. Dan Laidler.

Swimmer, 2009. Zoe Taylor.

Jane Ormsby-Gore. An illustration from the book.

"My aim is simply to dig up the roots of and, more importantly, show my unerring appreciation and devotion to those contrived subtleties and that blatant contrariness that makes British women so staggeringly adept in the art of expression through style," Luella.
